The EAC Celebrates National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, Inspiring New Generation of Election Workers

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) announced today, August 1, 2024, is designated National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. This national day of action was established by the EAC in 2020 to raise awareness of the importance of poll workers, inspire greater civic engagement, and supplement state and local election officials’ recruitment efforts across the country. Last year, election offices in 40 states and Washington DC joined elected officials, private companies, nonprofit organizations, and others in this effort.

Yes, the EAC supplanting guidance applies to direct grant recipients and all subawards. It is the prime recipient’s responsibility to provide monitoring and technical assistance to subgrantees and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

HAVA funds should be used to supplement state and local funds and activities. HAVA funds may not be used to replace or supplant state or local funds resulting in an overall decrease in the state or local program budget for HAVA related activities. ECO-01649 accommodate the following:

  •  The End-of-Life notice of the Brother PJ-723 thermal printer used within the Verity Touch Writer Duo series of devices. The product model is replaced with an equivalent model, the PJ-823.
  • The End-of-Life notice of the Advantech CFast card used within all Verity devices. The 16GB model is no longer manufactured and is being replaced with the equivalent 32GB model from the same manufacturer.
  •  The Touch Writer Duo Printer Bracket plastic is updated to improve assembly during manufacturing.
