EAC Opens Submission Period for Third Annual Competition for Best Practices in Election Administration

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is seeking submissions for its third annual national “Clearie” awards. Born of the commission’s mandate to serve as a national clearinghouse of information on election administration, the annual “Clearie” awards recognize best practices in elections that can serve as examples to other officials and jurisdictions.

Hicks Named New Election Assistance Commission Chairman

Commissioner Thomas Hicks has been selected to serve as Chairman of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), a position effective Feb. 24. He will be Chairman for one year and will continue to serve alongside EAC Commissioners Christy McCormick, who now moves to the role of Vice Chair, and Commissioner Matthew Masterson, who served as chairman during the past year. Hicks previously served as Chairman from February 2016 to February 2017.

MEDIA ADVISORY: EAC Hosts Election Readiness Summit on Capitol Hill One Month Before Midterm Elections

On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, just one month before the 2018 midterm elections, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) will host the EAC Election Readiness Summit in Capitol Visitors Center, Rooms SVC 208/209 & SVC 215 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. ET. The event will feature expert panelists and keynote speakers examining election security best practices. Following these discussions, the EAC will host an open house for election vendors who wish to display and demonstrate their equipment.

Election Assistance Commission (EAC) Chairman Thomas Hicks, Vice Chair Christy McCormick, and Commissioner Matthew Masterson today issued the following statement honoring the life and legacy of Wendy Noren, who served as Boone County Clerk for over three decades and as a member of the EAC’s Board of Advisors, and lost her long battle with cancer on Sunday.

Miami-Dade County to Host U.S. Election Assistance Commission Standards Board, Board of Advisors Meetings

Members of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s (EAC) Standards Board and Board of Advisors will meet at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables in Miami-Dade County between Wednesday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 24, 2018. The meetings will include a review of the next generation of Voluntary Voting System Guidelines (VVSG), a panel on Elections & Disaster Recovery, and presentations from officials from the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and others.

On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) will release program narratives and budgets from 48 of the 55 states and territories eligible to receive the newly appropriated Help America Vote Act (HAVA) funds contained in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018.
