Program Summary
Lake County created a Voter Experience Event for individuals with disabilities to build confidence and reduce barriers to voting. In partnership with the Lake County Center for Independent Living, the clerks office hosted a hands-on mock election using official voting equipment. Participants practiced casting ballots, explored accessible options, and received guidance from trained staff to choose the method that best supports their needs before Election Day. The welcoming setting helped reduce participant anxiety and errors while improving understanding of the process. The event also gave election officials valuable feedback to strengthen accessibility and improve services.
