Ohio - Huron County Board of Elections
Program Title
Boxed Ballot
Program Summary
The Huron County office sprang into action when they heard from many voters that there was confusion about several crucial pieces of information for the upcoming presidential election. Voters did not know when early voting started, what the election offices hours were, or where to vote. The Huron County staff brainstormed novel ideas for how they could reach as many people as possible, eventually coming up with the idea of putting fliers on pizza boxes. Given the widespread popularity of pizza takeout and delivery, this proved to be an excellent way to reach voters across the county. With outstanding success, the staff contacted every pizza place in the county and asked permission to post the informational notices on their pizza boxes. After the original release, the office then contacted every grocery store in the area and requested they put the fliers in grocery bags. Two of the biggest grocery stores in Huron County agreed to help with this outreach.
