The Importance of Good (Ballot) Design

While the 2018 Midterm Elections were administrated without issue in the majority of jurisdictions, some voters did experience long lines, malfunctioning voting equipment and flawed ballot design that made it harder for them to vote, or in some cases, prevented them from casting a ballot. Leadership, Vision, Innovation: Celebrating Women in Elections

A hundred years ago, Congress passed the 19th amendment to the Constitution, guaranteeing women the right to vote. It took another year for the States to ratify the amendment, and it radically changed the makeup of our American electorate. Just a month ago, in his State of the Union Address, the President stated to great cheers and chants of “USA! Making Registration Accessible for All

I’ve met countless voters across the nation and often hear stories about the unacceptable obstacles many have faced when registering to vote. Many voters face such obstacles because they have a disability and because an election worker, or a team of election workers, didn’t know how best to serve them. However, many jurisdictions are implementing innovative programs to address this issue.
