The EAC would like to thank all who entered the 2020 National Clearinghouse Awards competition, or Clearies, for best practices and innovations in election administration. The EAC Commissioners, judges, and staff were impressed with the ingenuity and resourcefulness of election officials from large to small jurisdictions who navigated record voter turnout in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
EAC Commissioner Ben Hovland met virtually with Dean Logan, Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk for Los Angeles County, California and Meagan Wolfe, Administrator for the Wisconsin Elections Commission to discuss best practices in election administration for the category of Improving Accessibility for Voters with Disabilities.

Results show progress made but obstacles remain for voters with disabilities
Many states are expanding and encouraging the use of vote by mail options for the 2020 elections, largely due to voter safety concerns posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. While these concerns have elevated the topic of voting by mail nationally, data shows that voters have utilized the option to vote absentee or by mail in increasing numbers for the last decade.
