The EAC Board of Advisors reviewed and provided comment on eight draft chapters of the Election Management Guidelines. The draft chapters contain recommendations and best practices regarding: absentee voting and vote by mail; acceptance testing; ballot building; contingency planning and change management; developing an audit trail; polling place and vote center management; pre-election and parallel testing; and uniformed and overseas voters.
The EAC Board of Advisors met in Chicago, IL on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 and Thursday, May 5, 2016.
The EAC Board of Advisors reviewed and provided comment on Phase II of the Election Operations Assessment, considering threat trees for the seven voting types covered by the Election Operations Assessment.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) Board of Advisors, as required by the Help America Vote Act of 2002, met to receive updates on EAC program activities. The Board received presentations on the proposed next iteration of the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines (VVSG), as were submitted to EAC from the commission's Technical Guidelines Development Committee (TGDC). The Board received presentations on the Vote Count and Vote Recount Study and will formulate recommendations.
The EAC Board of Advisors met on Monday, June 6, 2011 and Tuesday, June 7, 2011 to receive updates on EAC’s program activities and budget.
The Board of Advisors, as required by the Help America Vote Act of 2002, met to receive updates on EAC research projects and activities and discussed other relevant matters pertaining to the administration of federal elections. The Board received an update regarding recent work conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on the voluntary voting system guidelines.
The EAC Board of Advisers reviewed and provided comment on Phase I of the draft Election Operations Assessment. Phase I of the project was geared towards information gathering and modeling and was designed to create the framework for the remaining two phases of the project. The scope of the document and the project that created it focus on procedures and equipment that move the ballot through the electoral process.

The newly elected officers include Board Chair Sarah Ball Johnson, who is the City Clerk for Colorado Springs, Colo., Board Vice Chair Michael Winn, who is Director of Elections for Travis County, Tex., and Board Secretary Michael Yaki, who is a Commissioner with the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
