EAC OIG Commencing Audits of $380 Million Election Security Grant Funds

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is seeking submissions for its fourth annual national Clearinghouse Awards. Dubbed the “Clearies” for short, the awards provide election offices an opportunity to share their innovative efforts and celebrate successes. The Clearies play an important role in furthering the EAC’s responsibilities under the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). Under that Act, the EAC serves as a clearinghouse for election administration information.

The three meetings will precede a scheduled September 19-20, 2019 in-person meeting of the TGDC.

The 2018 midterm elections saw unprecedented levels of coordination between all levels of government and the private sector election companies, and the 2020 election will improve on that effort. The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) will host a public hearing from 1 – 4 p.m. CDT (2 – 5 p.m. EDT) on April 10 in Memphis to receive testimony on the proposed Voluntary Voting System Guidelines (VVSG) 2.0 Principles and Guidelines. The hearing will feature testimony from EAC and NIST staff, as well leaders from the EAC’s Standards Board and Board of Advisors. It will also include a public comment period.
