Emergency Resources
We know many of you were impacted by Hurricane Sandy over the last several days and want to remind you of resources we have available that may be useful to you at this time. The EAC Election Official Exchange allows election officials at the state and local level to connect and share information. If you need ideas or advice about the best way to overcome Sandy related obstacles, the Exchange is there for you to reach out to your fellow election administrators. If you are a jurisdiction that has experience managing similar emergency situations and are interested in sharing your experiences, please make sure you join the exchange.
The EAC is on Twitter (@EACgov) and will continue to help spread the word about Election Day related information. We are happy to help you get information out about any announcements or alerts related to changes with pre-election or Election Day activities.
Contingency Planning
The EAC has additional resources that may help with emergency situations. Last fall, the EAC held a roundtable on Contingency Planning in Elections. The roundtable focused on strategies to help prevent or minimize interruptions to the voting process due to emergencies or crisis situations.   State and local election officials gathered at the table with representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the American Red Cross. The conversation revolved around how to prepare for emergency and crisis situations; and discussions about best practices from election officials who have firsthand experience implementing these plans. All of the presentations given at the roundtable are available on our website.
The EAC offers additional resources for Contingency Planning & Change Management in the Election Management Guidelines and Quick Start Guides.
If you have additional questions, please comment below; or contact Jessica Myers at jmyers@eac.gov or via Twitter (@EACgov).
