There has been a lot of talk lately about the need for accurate voter lists. As part of the EAC’s work with election administrators, we know state and local election officials work diligently to maintain voter registration lists. That work is an essential part of protecting election integrity and providing those eligible the opportunity to vote.

The "Voting System Testing Update" blog is an effort to keep everyone informed of the progress systems in the EAC’s Testing and Certification Program are making each week.  We hope that this adds additional transparency to our process and allows stakeholders to get a weekly update about test campaigns that impact their jurisdiction.

Last October, I attended the Voter Education for Inclusion, Informed, and Ethical Participation conference in New Delhi, India. Representatives of more than 25 countries from six continents participated in this conference, where they gave presentations about how they’re working to expand the voting franchise in their country. As the Chairman of the EAC, I had the honor of representing the United States.

At the end of June this year the EAC will release its 2016 Election Administration and Voting Survey (EAVS). As it has in the past, this report will include a ton of great election administration information, including data related to:

  • Voter registration
  • Military and overseas voting
  •  Absentee ballots
  • Polling places and poll workers
  • Provisional ballots
  • Election Day activities and voting equipment

Much like Election Administrators across the country, we at the EAC are assessing the work we completed in 2016 and planning for 2017 and beyond. 

Our #GamePlan17 is to continue working on our HAVA mandates, which include the Clearinghouse; Accessibility in voting; Research and Election Administration Voting Survey (EAVS); and Testing and Certification of voting systems. We want to remain the go-to resource for Election Administrators and will work to provide resources that are innovative, easily used, valuable and substantive.
