  • Contingency Planning

I and my staff are senior (literally) election officials who have seen much of what a successful election looks like (and what can go wrong). We're ES&S 750 central count, M 100 precinct count with the AutoMARK accessibillity unit.

  • Pre Election Activities

We have an extensive calendar (assigning responsibility) that is the basis of our planning. In addition, we have developed extensive procedures (and we even strive to follow them!) Kidding aside, having a detailed calendar and procedures give us a defensible process. As we speak, we are being challenged in court for following our schedule and published procedures.

  • Post Election Activities

See Pre Election Activities. In addition, we strive to measure our voters success and failures (mainly around rejected vote-by-mail ballots.) We document our costs and bill out for legitimate cost recovery. While we work to keep costs down, we know that we must have adequate resources to conduct an election.

  • Voting System Performance

We would very much like to have meaningful incremental improvements to our system. State and federal testing/certification rules have frozen our system. Yes, we'd like the next interation, but funding is simply not there.
