Frequently Asked Questions

If a state doesn’t think it can spend $2 million, can we apply for less than the full amount?
No.

Suppose a state doesn’t spend all of the funds awarded by the conclusion of the grant?
Recipients do not receive the funds when the grant is awarded. Funds are reimbursed to recipients as they are expended, so recipients will not be in the position of having excess funds.

Can one or more states apply as co-applicants?
No. Only one state shall be the sole recipient of the grant. However, the grant recipient (the state) may choose to subgrant with other units of government, including states, counties, and/or local jurisdictions
