Weekly Election Update 8.27.12

We will post an Election update blog every Monday in an effort to summarize the elections and election deadlines each week until all primaries, special elections, and general elections scheduled for 2012 are finished. If you have additional information, requests, or corrections, please submit them via Twitter @EACgov or email Jessica Myers at jmyers@eac.gov. Elections this week:
 
August 28, 2012
 
Alaska, Primary Election. The Alaska Primary is open to all registered voters. There are three ballot choices for this election:
·         Alaska Democratic Party, Alaska Libertarian Party and Alaskan Independence Party Candidate with Ballot Measures ballot - any registered voter may vote this ballot;
·         Alaska Republican Party Candidate with Ballot Measures ballot - voters registered as Republican, Nonpartisan or Undeclared may vote this ballot; and
·         the Ballot Measures Only ballot - any registered voter may vote this ballot.
 
Polls are open from 7:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m. More information is available here.
 
Alabama, Municipal Election. The Alabama Municipal Election is open to all registered voters. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. More information is available here or on Twitter @BethChapmanAL.
 
Arizona, Primary Election. The Arizona Primary Election is open to all registered voters. Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. More information is available here.
 
Vermont, Primary Election. The Vermont Primary Election is open to all registered voters. Polling place hours vary, so check times here. More information is available here.   
 
Other Highlights:
 
State
·         AlaskaEarly voting begins August 13th and ends August 28th. The absentee by-fax ballot deadline for the August 28th Primary Election is August 27th.
·         Delaware – August 27th is the UOCAVA voter registration deadline for the September 11th Primary Election.
