EAC Roundtable: EAC National Clearinghouse on Elections

On March 20, 2012, EAC hosted a roundtable to discuss the agency’s role as a national clearinghouse and resource for election officials nationwide.  The roundtable provided a national platform for participants to share ideas and strategies for improving the administration of elections in the U.S.

The roundtable focused on the questions listed on the agenda, including how clearinghouse information is currently used and how EAC can improve the clearinghouse in the future. Some of the takeaways from participants in the roundtable were:

• Give some ownership of the information to those performing election administration activities to promote engagement and accuracy
• Create more opportunities for partnerships and networking between election officials (state and local) and the EAC
• Recognize election administration as a professional field and help develop ways to make sure new election administrators can get assistance and training they need to get up to speed
• Find out what information is most important and identify the most effective and efficient ways to disseminate it

The roundtable was moderated by Merle King, Executive Director, Center for Election Systems (Georgia), Kennesaw State University.
