Weekly Election Update 2.27.12
We will post an Election update blog every Monday in an effort to summarize the elections and election deadlines each week until all primaries, special elections, and general elections scheduled for 2012 are finished. Elections this week:
February 28, 2012:
- Presidential Preference Primary, Arizona. Arizona’s Presidential Preference Primary is open to voters registered in the Green Party or Republican Party. Early voting began February 2, 2012 contact your County Election Office for more information. More information on the Primary is available here or on Twitter @theREALAZsos.
- Presidential Preference Primary, Michigan. Michigan’s Presidential Preference Primary is open to Republican voters. More information is available here or on Twitter @MichSoS.
- City Primary, Kansas. Please check with your Local Election Office to see if you are eligible to vote. More information is available here or on Twitter @KansasSOS.

State
- Illinois – Early voting begins on February 27, 2012 and closes March 15, 2012. Contact your local election office for voting locations and times.
- Ohio – Absentee ballots can be requested from your County Election Office. You can pick up your ballot in person or vote it in person until March 2, 2012. UOCAVA voters may request an absentee ballot from the County Election Office. The request must be received by the County by noon on March 3, 2012. Ohio’s Primary is on March 6, 2012 and the EAC will post more information about it at the end of February. More information is available here or on Twitter @OhioSOSHusted.
- Tennessee – Early Voting is available for the Presidential Primary. Check with your County for Early Voting times and locations. Early Voting closes on February 28, 2012, which is also the last day to submit a written request for an absentee ballot. More information is available here or on Twitter @SecTreHargett.
- Virginia – Absentee voting began February 10, 2012. Mail in ballots for the March 6, 2012 Primary are due on February 28, 2012 by 5 PM. Voters may request or vote an absentee ballot in person until March 2, 2012. More information about absentee voting is available here. For information about the Arlington County, VA Special Election absentee ballot requirements, see below.
County
- Arlington County (Virginia) – Arlington County is holding a Special Election on March 27, 2012. If you have requested absentee ballots for the Primary (March 6, 2012) and Special Election (March 27, 2012) please make sure you mail each ballot back separately to make sure they are counted properly. Mail in absentee ballots for the March 27, 2012 Special Election are due back to the county by March 20, 2012 at 5 PM. More information is available here or on Twitter @ArlingtonVotes.
